Why Public Speaking?

Without realising, ‘public speaking' (as a skill) is required more regularly than most of us like to admit. Be it at work (during presentations); as best men or chief bridesmaids (during weddings); whilst giving sales pitches, or even during the vote of thanks when celebrating special occasions. In essence, quite a lot of our speaking is done publicly by default. Doesn’t it then make sense to seek mastery? To learn 'the how', in order to better communicate ’the what', however short it may be.

Through this art-form, key figures like Winston Churchill, Emmeline Pankhurst, Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln etc. have been able to ‘calm storms’, 'raise up armies' and inspire confidence, despite the tumultuous situations presented to them or surrounding them.

Warren Buffet (Seasoned investor & the third richest man in the world, Forbes 2018) was recently quoted stating that public speaking is the one skill that enhances value (earnings) by at least 50%. Irrespective of how infrequently you are required to address people, knowing what to do/how to do it, is what really matters.

To speak publicly, all that is required can be acquired by willing hearts and minds (regardless of experience). If the greats took time to study the emotion, tone variety, breath in conjunction with pace and delivery, gestures and even content structure, then it points to two things. One that Public Speaking is a skill that can be acquired but more importantly, to be great, you need to learn the art of speaking publicly.

Why Me?

As someone who is privileged to address people regularly, I am frequently asked about my thoughts on Public Speaking best practices; with specific focus on how I manage to consistently conquer my stage fright, despite the size of the audience, acoustics of the hall and limited time to prepare.

Initially, I met up with people individually to share theoretically insightful and practical steps that have helped me on my journey so far. Overtime however, as demand has increased, I have had to adapt my approach to match accordingly. Hence, the birth of the public speaking masterclasses.

I have been speaking publicly for over a decade now; engaging with different cultures; via different platforms and in various settings. Having realised that most people best assimilate information by seeing (Visual learners), hearing (Auditory learners), or doing (Kinaesthetic learners), I ensure that my content is creatively constructed, in an engagingly memorable manner.

The influence of mentors in my life; to ‘deposit’ priceless wisdom nuggets, especially at times when it wasn’t clear their 'investments' would pay off, acts as the bedrock for these masterclasses. I love to passionately give back, because, it was nice to be passionately given to. Sessions with me are always bespoke and are usually excellently presented. I take pride in the approach per session; the venue, the ambience, the feel, the sounds, and am always thinking deeply on the experience each participant should be having, to ensure that expectations are either met or surpassed as much as is possible.

I believe in people and their ability to outperform the mental barriers we place on ourselves as human beings. I am a push motivator. Should you choose to work with me, you will be activated for the next phase of your life’s journey.
